Outpatient Procedure for Stool Ova and Parasite Collection
Your physician has requested that you be tested for parasite in your stool. The accuracy of this test if directly related to the stool collection process. The following directions are provided to help you collect the specimen. You may be asked to repeat this collection for three consecutive days.
You have been given a large plastic container and three test kits if its X3. Each of these vials should be filled during the test period.
1. On the first day of the test, void your stool into the large plastic container. Do not urinate into the container. Do not collect stool samples that have fallen into the toilet.
2. Unscrew the cap on the vial. Use the wooden stick to fill vial to the arrow on the side of the vial. Discard any remaining stool into the toilet.
3. Label the vial with your name and the date.
4. Repeat stool collection for three consecutive days if ordered by your physician.
5. Return to Avalon Medical Laboratory as soon as possible.
